Police Arrest 228 Suspects In Enugu

The Police Command in Enugu State has arrested no fewer than 228 suspects in two months for various crimes ranging from kidnapping, murder, armed robbery and vandalism. In a press briefing on Thursday in Enugu, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mamman Giwa, said that the arrests were part of the command’s efforts to combat crime and ensure the state remains safe for citizens, investors and visitors. The commissioner disclosed that 33 kidnapped victims had been rescued, and 44 firearms, including ammunition, had been recovered. He said 20 vehicles are also among items recovered from the suspects. Police begin manhunt for armed robbery suspects who attacked travellers in Imo

  The Imo State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies including the Military, the Department of State Services, DSS, and others, has launched a coordinated manhunt for criminal elements who attacked unsuspecting commuters along the Okigwe–Owerri Road in the early hours of Thursday, 8 May 2025. A statement by Imo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, revealed that the attackers, operating in three separate groups, blocked the highway between Umunna in Onuimo LGA and parts of Okigwe LGA before executing their operation. NABs seeks Gov Eno’s assent to disability bill in Akwa Ibom

  The National Association of the Blind, NAB, Akwa Ibom State Council, has urged Governor Umo Eno, to assent to the disability bill earlier passed by the House of Assembly. The chairman of the association, Barrister Stephen Solomon, made the appeal in Uyo during the one year anniversary of the union’s executive members. He explained that once signed into law, the bill would empower members to advocate for their rights and mitigate all forms of discrimination and segregation they currently face. A pressure group, the Nigerian Female Students Coalition, NFSC. a body comprising female students across all institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, has condemned the allegation made against former minister, Oby Ezekwesili. It may be recalled that one Sandra Duru, known as Prof Mgbeke, had accused Ezekwesili of engaging in bribery to support Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment allegation against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
